Hi — I am Akriti, founder of AJ Commons

Hi everyone —

I am Dr Akriti Jamwal. Dentist by training, health informatics by path, co-founder of Akhester Technologies LLP and the person who started AJ Commons.

Why AJ Commons exists

I kept watching the same problem repeat: a hospital in Sri Lanka spends six months building an HL7v2-to-FHIR bridge. A hospital in Kenya spends six months building the same thing. They never find each other. The wheel gets reinvented in isolation, in every country, at enormous cost to systems that cannot afford it.

AJ Commons is the attempt to build that wheel once — in the open, under Apache 2.0 — so the six months goes toward deployment and local adaptation rather than re-solving already-solved problems.

What I am working on right now

  • DPGA Digital Public Good application for AJBridge and AJMPI
  • AJConsent alignment with the ABDM HIP/HIU consent model for India NDHB 2019
  • IHE ITI-111 PMIR async notification reliable at national scale

What I would love from this community

Honest feedback about what does not work. Deployment stories from LMIC contexts where infrastructure assumptions are different. Anyone who has wrestled with the gap between IHE specification documents and what actually runs in a hospital — please talk to me.

I will be here every day. Ask me anything.
